Explore the various dog training programs offered by Heeling Hearts in our Wilmington, North Carolina location. We offer a variety of options including Puppy Empowerment and Obedience
Basic Obedience
This class is offered to help dog and handler teams prepare for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test or AKC Community Canine test. Classes will be one hour each week for six weeks. Topics covered will include:
– Accepting a friendly stranger
– Sitting politely for petting
– Walking on a loose leash
– Walking through a crowd
– Sit and down on command
– Staying in place
– Coming when called
– Meeting another dog
– Leave it
– Walking and coming past distractions
Puppy EmpowermentÂ
This class is deigned to help young puppies gain the skills and confidence they will need to be great companions. Classes will be 60 minutes each week for six weeks. Topics included:
– Confidence building: using small agility obstacles, walking on different surfaces, and
– Exposure to new sights and sounds.
– Socialization: How to play nicely with other puppies and greet people without jumping
– Recall from a group setting or other distractions
– Leave it
– Introduction to basic obedience (sit, down, stay and come)
– Walking on a loose leash
